Characteristics of spandex used in diapers
Dec 30, 2024
Although spandex only accounts for 2-3% of the cost of diapers, the performance of spandex directly affects the quality of diapers and the efficiency of diaper production. Generally speaking, spandex yarn for diapers with excellent performance should have three characteristics: suitable elasticity, smooth unwinding and good adhesion.
First, spandex yarn for diapers needs to have suitable elasticity and elastic recovery rate. When the elastic recovery is too low, the diaper will not be able to prevent side leakage; when the elastic recovery is too high, the waistline will shrink too tightly, affecting the comfort of wearing.
Secondly, elastane spandex for diapers needs to have good unwinding performance. If the machine stops due to broken yarn caused by poor unwinding of spandex, it will directly affect the production efficiency and production cost of diapers.
Finally, spandex for diapers should have good adhesion to substrates such as non-woven fabrics. In the production process of diapers, spandex is fixed to the base material by hot melt adhesive or other adhesives. If spandex cannot form a strong bond with the base material, it is very easy for the spandex to separate from the non-woven fabric during the use of the diaper, causing problems such as elastic failure and side leakage of the diaper.
